Stay Cool

Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated in this hot weather! If water isn’t your thing, don’t “sweat it”. Try adding fresh fruit and herbs to your water to make it more interesting.

Be Active

Keep up with your physical activity routine! Some tips to keep up with the health:
⦁ Wear light colored, lightweight, and loose fitting clothing
⦁ Exercise in the morning when it is still cooler outside
⦁ Plan an active vacation for the family (hiking, canoeing, etc.)

Eat Right

Take this time to enjoy meals outdoors with friends and family! Be sure to make sure chilled foods do not spoil because of the warm weather. Some tips to eat right are:
⦁ Take advantage of seasonal produce
⦁ Go to farmers markets
⦁ Eat the colors of the rainbow
⦁ Pack snacks for the pool/beach

Watermelon Salad

Ingredients:
⦁ 3 cup watermelon, cubed
⦁ 1 cucumber, seeded and sliced
⦁ 2 tablespoons fresh mint, chopped
⦁ ⅓ cup feta cheese, crumbled
⦁ 3 tablespoons olive oil
⦁ 3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
⦁ Salt and pepper to taste

Just combine all ingredients!

⦁ Make homemade sunscreen

Try this recipe for DIY Sunscreen! This is waterproof, non-toxic, and safe for babies and the environment.

Ingredients:
⦁ 2 oz. virgin coconut oil
⦁ 2 oz. carrot seed or olive oil
⦁ 2 oz. cocoa butter
⦁ 2 oz. beeswax
⦁ 2 oz. non nano zinc oxide

Instructions:
⦁ Weigh and combine all ingredients in a heat safe glass pitcher.
⦁ Create a double boiler by placing a pitcher on a cloth inside a pan of water.
⦁ Heat water to a simmer.
⦁ Melt all ingredients completely, stirring well to combine.
⦁ Remove the pitcher carefully from hot water.
⦁ Allow sunscreen to cool slowly, stirring periodically.
⦁ Once sunscreen has started to thicken but is still pourable, pour into a glass container or silicone squeeze tube.
⦁ Allow to come to room temperature.
