Improve Quality of Life With Clinical Neurology

At Optimal You Wellness Center, Dr. Thomas Romero provides services that work off the concept of neuroplasticity, which is the nervous system’s ability to grow and change within itself. By stimulating this process through specific treatments, we can significantly improve the quality of life for individuals suffering from a wide array of cognitive disorders, sensory-motor deficiencies, ADD/ADHD, or those individuals seeking improved memory, academic success, or athletic function. Our programs are painless and safe for all ages, using the latest, researched-based technologies and systems. Dr. Thomas Romero provides individualized diagnoses and personalized plans based on each patient’s specific neurological deficiencies. Neuroplasticity is our nervous system’s ability to grow and change. Neuroplasticity is a relatively new term developed in the early 2000s after research showed how many aspects of our brain continue to change even during adulthood. Dr. Thomas has over 300 hours of Neurology training through the Clinical Neuroscience Institute and Palmer College of Chiropractic. At Optimal You, he uses chiropractic medicine in conjunction with brain balance programs to effect real change and improvements in his patients. To further stimulate and reactivate specific neurological pathways which can be identified as deficient or dysfunctional. Our goal is to empower people with knowledge of natural medicine so they know they have a choice for themselves and their families.

We use a variety of therapies to stimulate and reactivate specific neurological pathways which can be identified as deficient or dysfunctional.

Neuro Training Is Optimal for Being Able to:

  • Follow instructions

Athletic Performance

The link between athletic performance reaction timing, hand-eye coordination, and balance is ever-expanding. At Optimal You Wellness Center, we combine physiotherapy, chiropractic, and neuroplasticity to improve these skills in athletes of all ages. State-of-the-art technologies allow us to customize training to your sport.

Neuro Technology We Use

Below is some basic information on just a few treatment options Optimal You may recommend. All our treatments are backed by current research and we continue to add and adapt our treatment options as technology expands.

Interactive Metronome® (IM)

An evidence-based, engaging therapeutic modality that improves cognitive and motor skills. This technology is perfect for patients young and old. Using beats to stimulate auditory pathways within the brain, and visual stimuli for the participant to focus on and interact with, IM addresses critical brain timing skills. Our goal is to improve outcomes in the areas of cognitive, communicative, motor, sensory, and academic performance in conditions like ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, Stroke, and TBI.

FITLIGHT Trainer™

FITLIGHT is an interactive training system backed by tons of great research. The system is a unique wireless reaction training system comprised of LED-powered lights controlled by a tablet. The lights are used as targets for the user to deactivate and can be adapted and configured for all sports and training regimes. We use this technology for injury rehabilitation, athletic performance improvement, and cognitive disorders such as sensory processing. FITLIGHT is also beneficial for those wanting to improve mental capacity, perception, and concentration.

Benefits:

  • Improved fine motor control & coordination
  • Increased movement & mobility
  • Enhanced focus & reaction time
  • Sports injury rehabilitation
  • Athletic performance enhancement

Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation

Neuro-optometric rehabilitation is an individualized treatment regimen for patients with visual deficits as a direct result of physical disabilities, traumatic brain injuries, cerebrovascular accidents, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, or other neurological insults. This method is used to improve cognitive and motor function by stimulating neurological pathways in the brain which may not be working to the same capacity as others. This is accomplished through physical therapy for the eyes, which are direct pathways to the brain.

Vision plays a significant role in our ability to balance, orient ourselves in space, and process movement of things in our environment. Dr. Thomas performs various tests to determine neurological pathways which are weak and then creates your personalized rehabilitation program designed to engage those specific pathways. Therefore, no two patients’ treatments are the same!

What conditions are improved/treated by neuro-optometric rehabilitation?

  • Accommodative Dysfunction
  • Binocular Vision Dysfunction/Strabismus
  • Convergence Insufficiency
  • Cranial Nerve Palsy Involving the Eyes
  • Nystagmus
  • Ocular Motor Dysfunction
  • Post Traumatic Vision Syndrome
  • Spatial Disorientation

Neuro Sensorimotor Integrator

Using a touchscreen, the NSI offers a host of therapy procedures to a wide range of patients requiring visual or neuro therapy.

NSI treatment may be utilized for the following conditions:

  • Accelerated or decelerated closed head injury
  • Strokes and cerebrovascular accidents
